Bangladesh Moves from Chaos to Civilization with July Charter, Says Yunus

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus declared the signing of the July National Charter as the start of a new era for Bangladesh. He emphasized that nation-building must continue under future governments, recognizing the sacrifices of youth and the public uprising that led to this historic change. The Charter, he said, marks a shift from lawlessness to a civilized, consensus-driven society.

July Charter Signing Signals a New Beginning for Bangladesh

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has declared that the signing of the July National Charter marks the dawn of a new Bangladesh. Speaking at the historic ceremony held on Friday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Manik Mia Avenue, Dhaka, he emphasized that the moment represents a transformative step for the nation.

Praising the youth who made the day possible, Dr Yunus said, “The young people who led this change — and those who sacrificed their lives for the transformation of this country — will now be the ones to guide its future.”

Reflecting on the significance of the event, he noted:
“What we have done today, by signing together, will transform Bangladesh. This change was made possible by the mass uprising — the student and public movements that came together in unity.”

Dr Yunus described the July National Charter as the second chapter in that movement, stating:
“Because they led that uprising, we now have this opportunity. This change will carry us forward, and we will continue on this path.”

He stressed that the task of nation-building must now be passed on to the next elected government and that all future administrations must sustain and build upon the momentum.

“Through this charter, we’ve taken another significant step. We’ve moved from barbarism to civilization. We lived in a lawless society where people acted on impulse. Now, we’ve chosen the path of civilization — we’ll build a society that earns respect,” he asserted.

Looking to the future, Dr Yunus expressed hope in the power of unity and shared vision.
“What we’ve realized today is that if we continue to unite and build consensus in every area, Bangladesh will become a truly unique nation. We have the strength to achieve that,” he concluded.
