Pizza Hut Cuts 1,210 Jobs as 68 Restaurants Face Closure in the UK

Pizza Hut UK will close 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites after entering administration, cutting 1,210 jobs. Parent company Yum! Brands will save 64 sites, preserving 1,276 jobs.

Pizza Hut is set to shut down 68 of its UK restaurants and 11 delivery sites, resulting in the loss of 1,210 jobs, following its entry into administration.

On Monday, DC London Pie Limited, the operator of Pizza Hut’s UK branches, appointed FTI Consulting as administrators.

Despite the closures, there’s a partial reprieve. Yum! Brands, Pizza Hut’s global parent company, has agreed to rescue 64 restaurants, helping to preserve 1,276 jobs in the UK.

DC London Pie had acquired Pizza Hut UK’s restaurants from insolvency earlier in January this year, and also operates Pizza Hut franchises in Sweden and Denmark.

A spokesperson for Pizza Hut UK said, "We are pleased to secure the continuation of 64 sites to safeguard our guest experience and protect the associated jobs."

Nicolas Burquier, managing director of Pizza Hut Europe and Canada, echoed that sentiment, stating the targeted acquisition is designed to protect jobs and maintain the guest experience wherever possible.

He added that the company’s immediate focus is ensuring operational continuity at the locations being retained and supporting staff during the transition.

Pizza Hut, known for its family-friendly dining and signature salad bar, has been facing difficulties and had previously entered administration less than a year ago.
